In the last phase you would be the attacker and make your way to the enemy boss. You would start by defending the town from the enemy waves, after some time you would also have to manage a 2nd army to attack the attacking waves of enemies, because your base alone would not be able to hold the town. It was planned to be the biggest and most value level in the series. The last scenario episode of SF3-LotR Mod-Pack was planned to be the Minas Tirith. This episode was only listed on paper, but never reached the planning phase. Like Helms Deep this one was planned to be a RTS-Horde mission with defending the gate from the waves of enemies that try to break through. The 4th scenario Episode of the SF3-LotR Mod-Pack was planned to be the black Gate. This map/level did made it into the planning phase, until the technical issues in episode 2 come along that would also effect this one. When you got strong enough you would make you way across the bridges and conquering the east side from the enemy forces. It was released with the first version (1.0) of the LotR Mod-Pack and was planned as an introduction to the project and what is yet to come.įirst concept art about the map's line-up and organization as presented by NeoX. Like the Books and the Movie it was designed as a RTS-Horde Defense-Mission map for 1-2 players. Helms Deep is/was the first entry in the Series of Scenario maps/levels for the LotR-Mod-Pack for SpellForce 3. Warning: Using this Mod is at your own risk and should only be used when you have a very powerful system! This mod is the same mod and version as the one included in the SF3-AC-Patch. This 3rd person view mod works but is VERY UNSTABLE because the game engine of SpellForce 3 is not optimized for supporting this view. This Mod converts the unit follower camera to a 3rd person view where you can controll the selected unit/hero with WASD in 3rd person view. This mod changes all Team colors to neutral white, so Units don’t have other aggressive colors in their skins and teamwork feels more shared and not spitted up. Warning: It also affects human units in the single-player campaign as it uses the same assets! These icons are custom drawn by the artist Applina. This mod doesn’t only change the visual style of the Human units but also changes their names and icons. This mod works global so these changes affect the Human units everywhere in the game without making it incompatible to other player in MP that don’t use that mod. The included mods Human Faction Conversion ModĪ line-up of all retextured human army units with Lord of the Rings textures.Ĭonverts style, names and icons of the human army into Lord of the Rings units of Rohan and Gondor. The Coop mode is optional and all scenario maps/levels will be designed for SP since the series is mostly played by this type of player but will also have a MP-value thanks to the 2 player Coop feature. These Scenario Maps/levels should also be planned on a natively 2 player coop basis, so that people who want to play them with a friend can also share their experience. The 2nd thing is that it would also need LotR missions/levels that would add more content and playability to the game that would also give the mod more value and identification. The 1st was that the Human units need to be redesigned and renamed to Units of Rohan and Gondor.Įlves and Orcs are untouched for now, because they already fit the style and changes would barely be noticed. In the planning phase there were 2 things that stand out clearly. That and the mostly high demand for a modern style LotR-RTS game, made the decision that after the completion of the SF3-AC-Patch the work on a SF3-LotR Conversion Mod(Pack) will be worked on. The game mechanics of SpellForce 3 (mostly the sector system and the production system) didn’t make it feel for a lot of players like a classic game of the SpellForce series, but when you described it’s mechanics to other people, then mostly the following sentence came up: “Oh like Battle for Middle-Earth?”. Episode 5: Minas Tirith (canceled because of missing support – Mod-Pack version 5.0).Episode 4: The black Gate (canceled because of missing support – Mod-Pack version 4.0). Episode 3: Osgiliath (canceled because of missing support – Mod-Pack version 3.0).Episode 2: Isengard (canceled because of an Engine/Editor Bug of SF3 – Mod-Pack version 2.0).Episode 1: Helms Deep (released – Mod-Pack version 1.0).5 scenario SP/MP mission for 1-2 players in coop (released episode wisely).Human faction conversion mod (converts style, names and icons).Concept art with the mod's logo as presented by NeoX and his fellow modders.
